4.9 Media training
All senior staff, particularly those who are identified as official spokespeople, should receive regular media relations training through the CI Media Relations Training Module, provided by a member of COMWG. If CO staff have not received training, then it is the responsibility of the Emergency Communications Officer to provide rapid training (if time allows) and briefings/coaching to all CARE spokespeople as soon as possible on how to handle media interviews. At a minimum, the Emergency Communications Officer should ensure spokespeople have a copy of the most recent key messages, talking points and Q&As before any interview.
