- Establish a regular time and person to call each day
- Keep the call short and the communication clear
- Identify yourself and your current location
- Pass on the message/status for that day
- Inform the contact person of your coming travel plans

- Always call the contact person or radio room operator and report travel plans and establish times for the next contact

- Staff using satellite phones also needs to undergo brief training to ensure correct and effective use.
